Soldier Sam is one of two new characters created specially for the 2005 movie version of "The Magic Roundabout". He is the villain, Zeebad's, reluctant henchman. He eventually stands up to Zeebad when the villain abandons him after a train crash, but Zeebad zaps him and removes the third and final magic diamond from his chest. In spite of his villainy, Sam is restored to his place on the Roundabout by Zebedee at the end of the movie.
